About Taurus Leather

Taurus Leather Company has been manufacturing quality leather products for the building, farming and outdoor channels since 1988. Stuart & Kerian Savill bought the business off F&A Herman then combined this with the assets of Taurus Leather Company and the leather goods division of Bluegrass Products. Taurus acquired Lordwear in 1999 and then the apron and canvas division of Geraldine-based Lynn River in early 2005. In 2022, Taurus Leather Company was purchased by Hobeca Trading Company. Keeping Made in New Zealand alive, we ahve now moved to a purpose-built factory in Otahuhu, alongside the Hobeca office on the site that housed C.E. Lawfords for many years. 

The business is based in Otahuhu, offering close proximity to central Auckland and main distribution links. While many of our competitors have taken their manufacturing off-shore, we are committed to keeping as much of our range New Zealand made with New Zealand sourced raw materials wherever possible.

Leather wear still needs a lot of hands on attention and craftwork. Taurus has excellent experienced staff to ensure that all the products we manufacture are of a high quality accompanied with excellent service.

We use carefully selected full grain leather or hardwearing suede hides and do not take short cuts with construction. Each hide is thoroughly checked before cutting, they are placed in the press where specially shaped cutting knives are used on the hide to evenly cut individual pieces. These pieces are then sewn together featuring double stitching and rolled edges for overall strength, we use non rust rivets to reinforce points of wear.

Taurus prides itself on having a fantastic team of people who are passionate about making the best tool belts on the market. We spend a great amount of time at trade shows, on the work site, social media and any other way we can talk to the end user to ensure our products are the best they can be. Any modification we make to our range is a reflection of these conversations and the feedback received.

We think our tool belts are the best in the world, they are designed to give years of use and some say they get better over time as the leather moulds to your body and tools- just like a favourite pair of shoes.
